Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu

September 2006

Lai Ho Ma and hello to all,

For those that are new to the site, welcome to tonglong.co.uk and to the regular visitors thank you for visiting and I hope you are enjoying the site and its latest updates and additions.

This is the first newsletter I am sending out but it is not going to be a regular newsletter and I dont intend to fill up your inboxes or be labelled as spam ;)! Rather I will send updates when necessary or notify you all of relevant news or updates you might all be interested in.

Video Clips and Articles

Currently the site has 70 southern mantis kung fu video clips and 37 articlesrelated to Southern Praying Mantis! This will continue to grow as I search and create/upload new content that I can get my hands on. I am always looking for new stuff to share so if anyone would like to contribute feel free to contact me. The content I place online is content that has been available to the public beforehand (i.e. public demos, youtube, google video) and those that I have recieved permission for prior to sharing online.

The articles and video clips are free to access and provide a means for comparing and seeing the similarities in the Hakka southern praying mantis family systems. The latest articles this month are:-

Devil in the Details Series of articles from Shen Martial Arts. This article is on the Phoenix Eye Punch of Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu.

Training Blog

http://www.tonglong.co.uk/southernprayingmantis/blog/

I have been experimenting with craeting a training blog and recieved some good feedback. This is a blog (online diary) with which I hope that some of us southern praying mantis kung fu practitioners can log the type of training we have done on any particular day, any good / bad training days, thoughts, ideas etc. It could turn into our own blogging community.

If anyone would like to write up their martial art training let me know and an account can be set up and you can start logging your training and sharing your thoughts. It may also be useful for you in the long run to read back.

Southern Mantis Meet Ups

Every month or so on the last sunday we try to organise a meet up where students of Southern Praying Mantis (and other arts welcome) can train together, spar and share training and techniques and than go out to eat and talk kung fu (its in London UK only unfortunately). It is a very enjoyable meeting and there has been a nice turn out and success with this and we hope to keep it going and growing.

All are welcome and I hope we see new faces in the coming months. Information on these meet ups can be found on the forum (http://www.tonglong.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=14 or through replying to me on this email

Thanks and train hard...
